Admissions to Abbey Primary Community School

All statutory admissions arrangement's (children aged 4 at the beginning of September, Foundation Stage 2 onwards) is managed by our Local Authority (LA), which is Leicester City Council.  

 
Application Process - Children aged 4 before the beginning of September
 
You are welcome to tour the school. Where arranged Mr Kumar, our SMSC leader, will provide a guided tour.  
 
If you wish to apply for a full-time place at Abbey Primary Community School for you child then you need to submit an on-line application with Leicester City Council, please see below website for more details:
 
 
You will be notified by us if the application has been successful and arrangements will take place with the school for a start date.
 
The Local Authority allocates places on a priority basis:
  1. Children whose home address is in the catchment area of the infant or primary school with a sibling at the school or the linked junior school, who will still be on roll when the applicant starts school.
  2. Children whose home address is outside the catchment area of the infant or primary school with a sibling at the school or linked junior school, who will still be on roll when the applicant starts school.
  3. Children whose home address is in the catchment area of the infant or primary school.
  4. Children whose home address is outside the catchment area of the infant or primary school and who have requested a place.

Application Process - Foundation Stage 1 (Nursery) 

Parents may register a child, with the school, when he/she has reached the age of two years. Children are admitted to the Nursery/Foundation Stage 1 after their 3rd birthday, if spaces are available. Admission to the Nursery does not guarantee a place in the main school (Foundation Stage 2) at the age of 4 years.
 
If your child is under 3 please bring their birth certificate to the school office where they will be placed onto the nursery waiting list.
 
When a place becomes available you will be contacted by the school.
 
Admission arrangements for Foundation Stage 2 are in line with those of the Local Authority.  
 
The Local Authority allocates places on a priority basis:
  1. Children living in the school priority area.
  2. Children living outside the area with brothers and sisters at the school.
  3. Children living outside the priority area if places are available.
